THE BUZZ: Director Rob Minkoff (The Lion King) returns to animation to guide the dog hero of our childhood and his boy companion to the big screen. Fingers crossed for faithful animation (check) and a story that will appeal to long-time fans (verdict's out there).

THE BUZZ: Is it a prequel? A sequel? Yes it's both. And also a Greekquel. A lot has changed since 300 was released: Gerard Butler's career has waxed and waned and neither Lena Headey nor Michael Fassbender were well known (crazy that this was Fassenbender's first role) -- the iPhone hadn't even been introduced yet, remarkably. So what is the expectation in 2014 for this movie ... high fives and a huge collective sigh of relief if it makes over $100 million in the U.S.? We think so, and also think that is possible. And surpassing the overseas grosses of the original?

THE BUZZ: For worse or better, Moonrise Kingdom put Wes Anderson back in the mainstream picture, and we the Central Europe local, luxe ensemble cast, and screenplay's mentor/protege dynamic should play well in the art house and beyond.
